About Me
Hello everyone and welcome to my Tori Amos blog!
By divulging that I am a Tori Amos fanatic I am saying just about everything there is to say about me. But I’ll tell a brief version of my Tori story here…its not all that exciting, but, you know, we all have our Tori stories, some are better than others.
I was around 15-years old (this would have been circa 1996) and on the school bus. My best friend and I would create “bus tapes” to listen to as we rode…she would listen through one ear bud and I would listen through the other. We listened to different things…but I was mostly a country-music-listenin’ girl. One day my friend brought a mixed-tape her sister had made for her, on which was recorded Tori’s “Horses” (although it would be a while later before I knew the name of the song or the artist). I had never heard anything so beautiful, so simply complicated in my life and for all my 15-year-old brain could handle I fell deeply in love. But that was as far as it went for months…just listening to the bus tape.
About 6 months later as I was perusing the country aisle at the mall record store, I heard “Horses” again playing softly over the speakers…it was almost like it was haunting me. I asked the desk clerk who the song was by and she showed me over to the correct aisle. I took the babysitting money I was about to spend on a Reba McEntire CD and purchased Boys for Pele.
I about wore a hole in the thing. My CD player and my sister (with whom I shared a room) were both grateful that, for Christmas, my aunt gave me both Little Earthquakes and Under the Pink. Now at least there was a rotation of Tori songs blaring from my boombox.
I didn’t have to wait too much longer for Choirgirl and my obsession with Tori hit critical mass and I’ve been going strong ever since…never to buy another country album. I guess I could go into the emotional impact Tori has had on me, but as all of us Toriphiles know this is a deeply personal part of our lives. Maybe I’ll hold off on that for a while. Or, maybe I’ll just let this blog speak for itself.
Thanks for stopping by. This is intended to be an interactive blog…so comment away! I look forward to meeting everyone and joining in the efforts of other Tori bloggers to keep us all up-to-date on all of Tori’s comings and goings
I’m opening this website with a bio, videos w/commentary, song lists/interpretations, a photo gallery, and (of course) a news blog. Given Tori’s extensive catalog, it may take me a while to finish the song list page. But I’ll finish it…mark my words!
Toodles!
