Giving Thanks to Tori Amos
Happy Thanksgiving, Ears with Feet!
As I am sitting around my grandmother’s dinner table this evening, and while my family members are praising the Lord for their good fortune, their health, and the big ass turkey I’ll be thanking Tori for the immense amount of joy she has brought me not only over the course of this year, but also the 11 or 12 years she’s held me in rapture.
A list, if you please:
1. Tori, thank you for releasing one of the most ground-breaking, political, empowering, beautifully-written albums ever written this year. Your American Doll Posse album and tour inspired me to start this blog and has helped me establish an identity as a “whole” woman, not just a good student, which is the role I always tend to fall into.
2. And, while I’m at it, thanks for every album you’ve ever released. Just when I thought no one in the world “got” me, someone bought me Little Earthquakes. And every album subsequent to that played a large role in shaping my development such that today I am a strong, independent, intelligent, worldly person.
3. Thanks for being such a leader, drawing us like-minded fans together from all over the globe. I’ve met some wonderful people in person and online (shout outs to Inge, Saar, Kurt, Kelli, Jenn, and Anastasia!) and we have you to thank for enriching our lives in this way.
4. Thank you for writing Piece by Piece. At any time I can open up to any page and appreciate your multiple talents, your unique take on the world, and your amazing life and music experiences. I have several “trees of knowledge” as you refer to it, and Piece by Piece is one of them. Just when I thought you and I have bonded over just about everything, I see that you are an academician at heart, too. What a perfect friend you are. Role model too, but friend above all else.
5 . Thanks for going on such long, wonderfully-elaborate tours so we can all see you and connect with you in person. I understand that it takes a large toll on your family to wander across the globe for us and I want you to know that we appreciate it. Our dedication (and our dollars) proves this.
6. Thanks for being so unbelievably cute and funny. YouTube vids of you in funny interviews keep me in stitches for hours and whenever I am in a bad mood, I just do a search for your “I Will Survive” video, watch you jump up and down on that bed…and its all better!
7. Thanks for being deep and fashionable at the same time. Yes, us women can look fly while simultaneously having something to say.
I’ll stick with seven
But I want 10 reasons to be thankful. SO….what are YOU thankful for, fellow Tori fans? Comment!
Again, have a wonder-full, peace-full holiday,

Wow, you took the words right out of my mouth. I too must give my thanks for the Goddess and how she has taught me the pride of being a woman
Tori - you are the absolute most fabulous woman of this time, your talent, your personalities, your devotion to us as your fans, you’re an absolute Queen and you make this world a better place to live in. Thank you Tori, thank you endlessly
I’m not a good writer, so I really don’t know how to describe my feelings for Tori better than you did
All I can say is that Tori really changed me and made me a greater person. Bless you ))
What would we do without her, huh? Thanks for the comments ladies!!!
