Tori Amos: A Little Dissertation Inspiration

Geek Like MeThis week is a purdy stressful week over in China2Ny land…defending the ol’ dissertation on Friday. Its a good piece of work…its just that the word “defense” throws me as I am a pretty non-confrontational person. And for as confident as a person as I am, public speaking is never really going to be my bag, baby.

So…the bummer is that YouForAWhile has taken a back burner as I prepare for this thing. Which is a shame, because I was doing good at posting a little sumpm, sumpm everyday. I think part of me is also fighting against the end of this tour. Maybe if I don’t write about it…it won’t happen :) I can delude myself.

So…what do all of us Toriphiles do in times of stress, insecurity, anxiety, and anticipation? Make mix CDs! So…what is on my get-pumped-to-kick-ass-on-my-diss-defense Tori Amos CD? Thought you’d never ask…

Girl
All the Girls Hate Her
Sweet Dreams
Waitress
Caught a Lite Sneeze
Over It
Cruel
Jackie’s Strength
But a Martini (just for fun!)
Witness
Thoughts
Teenage Hustling
Flying Dutchman
Almost Rosey
Purple People

I’m open to making get-pumped-to-kick-ass-on-my-diss-defense part deux with your suggestions. What do you listen to empower yourself for stuff like this?

Thanks for stopping by! I’m getting ready to write my end-of-tour-review post and a review of the most up-to-the-minute active Tori Amos news blog, Undented.com. So, stay tuned…and send me happy thoughts on Friday!

Tori just goes off on an f-ing rampage with this live version and every time I hear it I start to make fists :) and Waitress - Buffalo, September 3, 1999 - another f-ing rampage :) and any live version of Code Red this tour, those three girls could take a head off :)

Being a former PhD candidate (yes, I’m a dropout) I know what this means. Enjoy your achievement! Meanwhile, let us know if you get any fabulous gifts. One of my best friends defended her dissertation last week, and I’m still brainstorming on what to get her…

Thanks for the congrats Jenn W.!! I’ll keep you posted on what goodies come my way :) Unfortunately, as a psych doctoral student, I have to spend a year on an internship before I can call myself “Dr.,” so I better get some good presents to hold me over until then!!!
