Tori Amos Fans on Sunny Florida DVD…
…I must meet you.
The urge to blog overwhelmed me shortly after popping Welcome to Sunny Florida into my DVD player today. Several incredibly lucky fans are interviewed at the beginning of this DVD boasting the number of Tori Amos shows they had under their belts. Seventy was the average, with one lucky girl having gone to over 125 shows.
I must meet these people (esp. blue-haired girl, beret boy, man-bag boy, and over-125-show girl) because, not only do we have a lot in common (Do It Again and Liquid Diamonds definitely need more love on tour) but I have several questions that I am dying to ask you:
- How much money have you spent on tickets? Travel expenses? Exactly how rich are you or, conversely, exactly how much in debt are you?
- What do you do for a living? Your bosses must be big Tori Amos fans too if they let you have that much vacation time. Are there any openings? Because I could see myself working there too.
- What kind of tickets do you get? Something tells me you score the front row or something close to it. What is your secret? Can I borrow some of your mojo? 30th row is as close as I have managed to get.
- So, you’ve been to a lot of shows. What kinds of observations have you made? About Tori, her fans, her performances, the meet and greets, her crew? You are in a unique position to supply that information. What is your “professional” opinion?
- Can you speak at all regarding Tori Amos concert etiquette? Do you prefer sitters or standers? What are your feelings on Sing-alongers? Screamers? “I LOVE YOU TORI”-ers?” Play-this-for-me-ers?
- In 50 words or less, why do you love Tori Amos so much? (I’m working on my own response to this one).
- Would you be caught dead wearing the same thing to more than one Tori show?
- Who has been your favorite opener?
- How does Tori react when you tell her you’ve been to close to (or over) 100 shows?
- When someone tells you they’ve only been to 7 shows, do you still respect them as a fan?
Oh…and one more (for an uneven 11 which drives me nuts): How does one go about appearing on a Tori Amos DVD? ‘Cause I wanna be on one too!
I would call myself a die hard Tori Amos fan. I have been one since I was 15. I’ve seen at least one show per tour since the release of Choirgirl for a total of about 6-7 shows (hence, question # 10). But, apparently, my fandom falls miles short of yours and my ego suffers. I must glean answers from you, my Tori Amos concert Senseis, for my dignity to be reclaimed!
Screenshots of my favorite interviewees…the ones that have literally turned me green with envy.

(I assume, since you appeared on the DVD, that you do not mind appearing in my blog. If this is a problem, let me know and I’ll take you down. Really, I think we could be friends life-long friends. You are my idols (aside from T, of course).

Love your site
Thanks Jenn!
I love this DVD.
Tori is brilliant.
Indeed she is!
None of the fans on the DVD will answer your questions. I can tell you everyone has a different story, and the answers don’t always fit real well with the specific questions you’ve asked. I wouldn’t answer most of the ones I might be able to, because they’re too personal, too.
And few regulars on the tours see the openers much, they’re on the tour for Tori, at least on most tours since early 1998 it’s been this way.
What was your paper on? Congrats on defending it. What’s your degree on?
Thanks, and who are you? I stumbled onto this site. You’re China2Ny? You kids and your pretend names.
Hey Richard! Thanks for dropping by! I totally get you…I don’t really expect the Sunny Florida DVD to divulge this info. Actually, if I were them I’d be miffed at me cuz I’m kinda being facetious in a so-very-not-compassionate way. Thats not really my personality to make light of one’s Tori fandom, but I caught a sarcasm-bug…one of those 24-hour things
Thanks for the congrats! The Diss was on the impact of societal expectations on the schizophrenia patients…I’m still nursing the bottle of champagne my mentor gave me after I defended, he he he.
Yeah…admin = China2Ny. I can’t figure out how to change it…are any of you out there word press gurus who could help me out w/that?
TTYL, Richard…
