Tori Amos Legs and Boots Review Series: An Intro by Kelli
China2Ny: All morning I’ve had the Beatles song “With a Little Help from my Friends” in my head. Now, how did this song manage to finagle brain space away from my vast supply of Tori Amos tunes? Because I am filled to the brim with gratitude for my Afterglow friend and Australian soul mate Kelli, who graciously agreed to guest post for me whilst I am away this month getting my internship interview on.
Kelli, being the genius that she is, offered to review each and every Legs and Boots album! What a brilliant idea! So many of us Ears with Feet (including myself) lack the fundage to purchase all twenty-six albums and need some help choosing our poison. A devoted Toriphile and avid bootleg collector, Kelli has provided detailed information for each show including the highlights, her personal faves, and a rating system (5 “wigs” is the highest honor!). Kelli is a talented, informative writer with a fun, engaging personality. You’ll love her! I surely do.
This series, lead by the East Coast gigs, will formally begin tomorrow. Yeah, ya hafta wait a bit. In the meantime, enjoy this entertaining intro written by the one and only Kelli…
Kelli: Well. The tour is over. No more dolls. No more Tori for a while. In the northern hemisphere it certainly seems to be chillin’. What can possibly warm all of your ‘feet’ up on those cold, cold, snowy days? (I wouldn’t know. Here in my part of Australia it never snows. It was 110 degrees Fahrenheit here on Christmas day. Conversely, if you live in the southern hemisphere, what can possibly cool you down?) Why, a trip to the Tori Amos Bootlegs site, of course! (psst… for all you non-US/CAN citizens with a credit card, I have a cheat for you!)
The excuses to buy them are endless! They are having a Holiday sale, buy 5 or more and get a 10% discount, buy 10 or more shows and you get a 20% discount. If you are an audio perv and need to buy FLAC’s, boy, it’s gonna cost you! But the savings! Firstly, it’s live Tori, and as anyone who has been to a show on this tour will attest, she be kickin’ ass. Secondly, it’s a great little collection to add to your (already massive) Tori collection…the dolls aren’t coming out again people! The quality is superior and better than anything you will get on a homemade ninja boot and the artwork is luverly. Thirdly, the site won’t stay up forever, so why not buy yourself a Christmas/ New Years/ Hanukah/ Kwanza/ Chinese New Year/ Saint’s Day/ early birthday/ Happy Un-Birthday present? Or buy the ones you love some Tori–the gift that just keeps on giving!
But, I hear you say, out of all the shows and my limited amount of moneys, which should I choose? Seriously, it’s like Sophie’s Choice here! Which ones should I buy? Well, don’t fear dudes, I’m here to give you the low down on the whole collection. We’ll go chronologically, because that’s the way I roll! [China2Ny butts in…I’ll post them by region, but chronologically by region. Its easier to make a “series” of posts that way. Sorry to intrude, Kel!]
Obviously, personal choice plays a big part in the purchasing of L&B’s, so if there is a song that you want individually reviewed, just let me know!
