Radio Love for Tori

Just came across an article on bizjournals.com…apparently there is a city in this country willing to give Tori Amos some freakin’ radio attention! My hometown would never do this. Well, I’ll be nice…they did play the heck outta 1,000 oceans when it came out but that has been about it!

Enjoy your new channel, Cincinnatians!

Here’s a summary of the article:

WVMX-FM, a Cincinnati Clear Channel station, announced that 94.1 will now play “Adult Hits.” Just what constitutes an “adult hit” I don’t know, but they also threw around the phrases “guitar and pop” and “Starbucks music.” Dave Matthews Band, Matchbox 20, Sara McLachlan, Sheryl Crow, the Goo Goo Dolls and Tori Amos will receive major attention on the new station’s playlist. The station reports it is targeting 25 to 39 year old females.

Well…let me think about this one. Would I really want Tori to be played frequently in in my town? I mean, I really like the Plain White T’s single “Hey There Delilah” but I think if I hear it more than 5 more times on the radio I will officially be over it. I would hate for this to happen to any Tori song. And I like my Tori underground…and her albums certainly don’t need it to do well. But, on the other hand, she is due the attention.

*Wondering how other Tori fans would feel if she suddenly “blew up” on the radio*

Oh…and we should all take a second and collectively engage in a silent temper tantrum for Tori’s music being referred to as “Starbucks” music. And guitar and pop? Geez…what a blow below the belt!
