Tori Amos Website Review: ToriAmos.jp (Japanese Fan Site)
For the third installment of YouForAWhile.com’s Tori Amos website review series, I’ll jibber jabber about a cool new Japanese Tori Fan Site: ToriAmos.jp. The primary purpose of this site is to draw attention to Tori Amos’ Japanese fan base. These guys and gals want T. to come visit them VERY soon. She hasn’t since 1994!

Webmaster: I’ve been chatting with the wonderful Yuta Onaga. However, it appears as though one Masafumi Shoji is the creator of the site.
URL Inspiration: He he he….my site was going to be ToriAmosWorld.com but I was scared off by the threat of breaking some sort of copyright law (artists typically have all rights to their name). But the ballsy Yuta and Masafumi don’t seem to care! You go, guys!
Summary: Tori Amos news, information, links, tour schedule, brief bio, discography, and (most importantly) a petition that EVERYONE should go sign. Tori and the boys should take a trip to Japan very soon!
Highlights: I absolutely adore the imagery of the site (Masa loves Isabel!). I have a hard time reading the translation at points, but I can tell that these webmasters adore Tori and are inspired by her on a daily basis. The idea to create a site to draw Tori’s attention toward a particular spot on the globe is a genius concept…and it appears to be working! They are getting a fair amount of signatures!
ToriAmos.jp also keeps us up-to-the minute with Tori Tour News (see their Live Report section), complete with pictures. There is also an interactive component…because us Tori fans like nothing better than talk about our idol all live long day!
Other Pages/Content: The bio is brief, but does its job. The links page is thorough and hey, what do you know, I’m there! he he he. The About Site page is passionate…again, Japanese Ears with Feet want to see TORI!!!
Layout/Design: Genius. Beautiful. No trace of Photoshopping whatsoever. It appears as though this shot of Isabel was made for this site. Navigation is simple. Since this site is meant for Japanese “people who come to the shows” (as Tori called her fans in an interview I watched today), I will not complain about the language barrier. Besides, Google does a decent job at translating. I can usually “get it” if I use my imagination. Again, its the purpose of the site that is so intriguing.
Updates: Weekly and listed on a page titled BSS (at least that’s what it says in English).
Communication: I maintain contact with Yuta on the Afterglow. However, from what I can see, comments are answered in a very timely manner.
Great site…I admire the efforts of the toriamos.jp team!
