Tash gets tough on Tori
Every now and then…like when I’m driving to work, I’ll have a random thought like…”Gee, I wonder what cute thing Tash has done recently” or “I wonder how big she is getting” or “How has she made Tori smile today?”
I’m obviously not the only one!
When an interviewer asked Tori if she was nervous about the day little Tash Lorien Hawley would ask her about her lyrics, Tori responded:
“Oh, we’re already at that day. Tash is 6 and wants to be a film director this week. So she is hiding behind doors and filming all of us…not a whole lot gets by her. She’s just at this place where she’ll say ‘Mummy, mind the vocabulary. You are going to be seeing some of the other mothers from school and you have to keep ‘Tori Amos’ in line.’ And I have to say, ‘Yes, I know, you’re right…’”
I think this is pretty cute. That is actually a good question to ask. As Tash approaches adolescence (yeah, she’s a way off…but I can’t believe she is already 6!) she’ll definitely start to “get” some of the Little Earthquakes angst and, er, that one line at the end of Professional Widow, and The Waitress (the list goes on). Not that Tori doesn’t welcome Tash’s questions…and not that she’s ever at a loss for words, but its just interesting to imagine those conversations. Or am I nuts?
Sometimes interviewers surprise me like this. But, alas, most will ask something dull…
