Santa in Omaha: Tori Amos Concert Review
Santa serenaded her audience in Omaha, Nebraska last night during what is arguably one of the more interesting concerts on this tour. (Of course, it would come in second next to Me and a Gun night in Chicago.) Anyway, Santa delighted Omahaians with her fave ADP number, Body and Soul, and followed it up with She’s Your Cocaine, Dragon, and Secret Spell. Raspberry Swirl got a second helping of love during this set.
Lucky bastards also got a debut of Bug a Martini. Santa was really feeling this one as she hopped around the stage, danced around the boys and jumped off stage and joined her audience for some hip swingin’ fun…well, the lucky inhabitants of the orchestra pit anyway. To my knowledge this has never been done at a Tori show. What is going on with Tori, lately? We’ve seen a totally new side of her over the past few nights…and I’m loving it! (*anxiously awaiting someone’s Youtube post*). I have a pet theory that she’s going gung-ho on this tour because it is her last big sha-bang. Not that she’ll never tour again, but this is her last “big ass” tour. She’s creating memories.
Back on topic: When Tori was up, she broke out classics such as Space Dog, Cornflake Girl, Leather, and Precious Things. Peeping Tommi also made its way onto Tori’s setlist, and from what I’m told this song alone is worth the entire download cost. According to fan reviews, it appears Tori opted for a raspberry sound rather than the traditional tongue roll after the piano bridge in Cornflake Girl. Yeah, this is small compared to the fact that she played and cut a rug to Bug a Martini and sang Peeping Tommi all in one show, but still worth mentioning.
See the rest of the Omaha Nebraska setlist below. I just might have to hate Omaha just like I hate Chicago.
