I wasn’t there and I see no review in the Philly papers this morning, so I’m going to rely on forum members. And, while I’m at it, I’ll give a shout out to all you texters out there who feed us with information when you could be enjoying the concert…

Ms. Santa opened up this show, sauntering on stage wearing a red, flowing, knee-length, flapper-like gown and, of course, donning the signature white bob. In between singing Body and Soul, Hoochie Woman, Dragon, Sugar, You Can Bring Your Dog, and Secret Spell her onstage antics included pouring a drink for the boys which ended up all over her. From what I hear she played off this moment of ungracefulness and, in a very Santa like way, smeared the spilled drink all over her chest.

Tori’s set has been described as a bit darker than Santa’s, heavier on the Choirgirl, boasting such solemn tunes as Spark, Liquid Diamonds, Hotel, and Purple People. The ubiquitous Cornflake Girl spiced things up, I’m sure, as well as Leather and Big Wheel. The improv was described as sullen and very Ode to Britney-esque. Overall, peeps who went to both the NYC shows and this one describe the gig as less energetic but still brilliant.

Other highlights, I hear Yoav was great and that Tash made a cameo appearance on the balcony twirling and dancing to the music. The crowd was described as too easy to please, most becoming a little too excited to hear Leather. Us seasoned veterans have heard this played live many, many, many times.

Why I’m jealous: 1,000 oceans and Purple People. Two of my favorites. Hopefully she’ll keep these in mind when she plays on the 28th.
