Tori Amos at The Palace Theater in Albany, NY: Venue Review
As of late I’ve fallen into the habit of reviewing things –Tori Amos websites, ringtones, and now tour venues. This American leg venue review series represents an effort to get us Americans even more hot and bothered about our upcoming American Doll Posse concert experiences.
And we’ll start at the very beginning…The Palace Theater in Albany New York which she will play on October 9th. Thats only 4 days away New Yorkers! Ticketmaster is still selling tickets…so hurry and get yours if you haven’t already!
Location: 19 Clinton Ave., Albany New York, (518) 465-3334. There is a 6 ticket limit…so choose your friends wisely.
Some History: Built during the Great Depression, the Palace Theater is now considered a historic landmark. This Baroque-inspired theater was home to vaudeville acts and old school movies and in its recent years has been played by a wide variety of musicians, Broadway shows, and orchestras. Albanians take great pride in their Palace Theater as it serves as the gateway to a host of cultural, artistic, and entertaining events.
Appearance/Size: Albany’s Palace Theater can hold up to 2,844 Toriphiles…just intimate enough without feeling like you are at a pro-basketball game. From the photo above and from the descriptions the place sounds absolutely breathtaking–ornate Baroque design, a ceiling designed to mimic the night sky, and fabric wall treatments. Tori Amos fans seeing Tori in this venue are no doubt in for an incredibly moving, dramatic performance.
How Website Introduces Tori: The Palace Theater welcomes Tori with open arms, giving a full description of the ADP concept and preparing concert goers for a unique, eye- and ear-opening experience. They warn: “Come with a set of open ears and minds, and bring your whole, true self with you. Tori, Pip, Isabel, Clyde and Santa have something you need to hear.”
Has Tori Amos Played Here Before?: Tori graced the stage at Albany’s Palace during her Dew Drop Inn, Scarlet’s Walk/Lottapianos, and Plugged ‘98 tours. Welcome back Tori!
